Playa Dominical, Costa Rica is a small tourist community set on the beach just south of the Rio Baru, heading south to Punta Dominical. The best surfing waves are directly in front of town where sandbars form from the river sediment.
The waves in Playa Dominical are powerful, hollow and often closed out, but from time to time it can turn into a beach break barrel fest on the incoming tide. There is a rocky left point at Punta Dominical that works on bigger swells.
