Welcome to Surfing Costa Rica!

Costa Rica is a surfing traveler’s paradise.  Surfing Costa Rica is your surf travel resource for researching and planning your next surf trip to Costa Rica.  We hope you enjoy our website!

Costa Rica has some of the best waves in Central America.  The quality and variety of surf that breaks along Costa Rica’s over 700 miles of surfable coastline make it easy to see why Costa Rica has become such a popular surfing destination in recent years.

Surfing waves in Costa Rica can be found for all skill levels.  Beginner surfer’s will be able to find calm sandy beaches to learn how to surf in Tamarindo, Nosara, Playa Santa Teresa, Jaco Beach, and Manuel Antonio, where there are numerous surf schools and surf camps.

Expert surfers will find that Costa Rica surfing waves can be extremely challenging at Witch’s Rock, Salsa Brava and Pavones.  There are many secret spots and undiscovered breaks if you go searching along some of Costa Rica’s more remote beaches in search of surfing waves.

Costa Rica has two international airports.  San Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Alujuela near San Jose, Costa Rica, which serves the central and south pacific regions, as well as, the Caribbean region.   Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Costa Rica serves the north pacific region, also known, as the Guanacaste Province, or Nicoya Peninsula.

We decided to build surfingcostarica.com, because we believe that you need up to date surfing travel information to help you make decisions on where to surf, stay and what to do in Costa Rica on your surfing vacation.  As we continue to add new features at Surfing Costa Rica, including surf reports, surf video / photo galleries, surf maps, hotel / vacation rental booking engine and much more, we hope that you will help us make Surfing Costa Rica the surfing travel guide of choice for planning your next surf trip to Costa Rica.
